As you know, there are three types of in ground pools. You will have to decide between a concrete, vinyl-liner, and fiberglass. However, thats not all, you will need to weigh in the fact you will need to redo your entire backyard or front yard to accommodate your pool. In addition, you will need to think about all the accessories. Even though the pool may seem reasonably cheap, you may not think so in the end. It is important that you educate yourself about in ground pools and their pros and cons. First, in ground pools are way more expensive than an above ground. They are also more permanent and since they are installed in the ground, it will add some value to your home property if you were to sell it. It will also make your home quick to sell because a lot of buyers are looking for the appeal that the in ground pool offers. In ground pools range from the depths of 3-5 feet to as much as 12 feet. Before your purchase, your pool you will need to decide the depth of your pool and what the purpose of your pool is.

In addition, you will need to decide the shape of your pool. If its for laps, you will need a rectangular pool, but if its just a cooling addition to your property, you may want to get a little daring with the shape. You will need to think of the future too. If you have children who are only in the toddler stage, you will want to take in consideration that your children arent going to want to sit in a shallow pool, but dive and swim and play.

Now you have made your choice on the size and depth, think about the budget. Whats the most you want to spend or can afford to spend. Once you decided your budget you will want to go a little bit below that number. This way you can stay within your budget no matter what. Now you have to decide what kind of pool you want.

If you are thinking about fiberglass you will have to think big; budget big that is. Prices for fiberglass pools are so much more than vinyl-lined or concrete. All it is a big bathtub. The maintenance of the fiberglass is practically nothing since it doesnt conflict with the chemicals of the pool. Installation is quick and easy too. Fiberglass is also more shock absorbent and that is important if you are located in an earthquake area. When it comes to concrete, its cheap and durable.

You can also find a variety of finishes and its weather resistant. However, time will make your concrete pool begin to chip. As for your last option, vinyl that is, you dont have that many pros. The construction time is less than concrete, but it can easily be damaged. The best bet is to go with concrete or fiberglass.
