Mad Scientist Easter Egg Experiments

 

Secret Message Eggs

Supplies: 2 Tablespoons Alum (available on the spice rack at the grocery store) 2 Tablespoons White vinegar Hard boiled eggs Q-tips

Directions: 1. In a small dish, dissolve the alum and the vinegar.

2. Use a Q-tip to write or draw an invisible message on the egg. Let it dry completely.

3. Crack and peel the eggshell from the egg. When the eggshell is removed, the writing is visible on the eggs surface and the egg is still edible.

Easter Egg in a Bottle

Supplies:
Boiling water
Oven mitt
Funnel
Clean, empty salad dressing bottle
1 Hard-boiled egg, peeled

Directions: 1. Place the funnel upright in the empty salad dressing bottle. Using an oven mitt, have an adult carefully pour the boiling water into the bottle.

2. Remove the funnel. Swirl the water around inside the bottle and then pour it into the sink. (Use the oven mitt. The bottle will be hot.)

3. Quickly, place the egg over the mouth of the bottle and watch as the egg is sucked into the bottle.
